Eurovision Final 2020: N's thoughts

And now for the Final! Who will N appoint as the winner? It may shock you!!

Once again, I don't know what the official order would have been LOL SO! Time to hear the Big Five plus the Netherlands, last year's winner!

Final (16.05.20.)

1: Jeangu Macrooy - Grow (The Netherlands)
"I'm getting older, and it ain't what I thought it'd be." Oh mood. Hmmmm the chorus sounds rather pleasantly atmospheric when all those instruments come in. An interesting one... will require further listens to 'get' it. TBH, it's to the extent where I'm not sure this is quite suitable for Eurovision...

2: Tom Leeb - Mon alliée (The Best in Me) (France)
Aw. This is nice. Nice mixture of French and English going on there. Not particularly exciting, though. OHHH A KEY CHANGE THOOOUUUUGHGHHHHHHGHGHG

3: Ben Dolic - Violent Thing (Germany)
Ooh, unusual voice, I like. Decent song, although not particularly exciting.

4: Diodato - Fai rumore (Italy)
Pretty nice. Lyrics are interesting. Once again, though... not particularly exciting.

5: Blas Cantó - Universo (Spain)
Ooh, I like that pizzicato. Shame about the rest of the song, though.

6: James Newman - My Last Breath (United Kingdom)
It's a bit sad when my ever-mediocre country's entry is one of the least mediocre of the straight-to-the-Final entries TBH.

Alright! Now that we've heard all the entries, it's time to rank the ones that qualified and select a winner! The Semi-Final entries do have a bit of an advantage over the entries that went straight through to the Final because they've had extra time to sink into my head - and grow on me, in some cases! Still... that only really matters when the straight-to-the-Final entries aren't a snorefest...

CONGRATULATIONS RUSSIA! You... don't get to host it next year cause you don't officially win. BUT! YOU HAVE WON IT FOR ME!!

"But N! You didn't even list Russia as a favourite for Semi-Final 1!" I didn't, that's right. But like I said, the Semi-Final songs have had time to grow on me and worm their way into my head. And this one, I feel, does everything right for a Eurovision song. It's fun, it's silly, it's catchy, and it's memorable. It truly embodies the light-hearted spirit of Eurovision - and for that, I must reward it with top place!

Ranking these songs was difficult as heck, though, cause there were so many great ones this year! I encourage everyone to go and spam the shit out of these songs using YouTube, Spotify, etc. Or better yet, buy the CD! It's available at the official Eurovision website. Then go and tell your favourite entrants how much you appreciate their work! They could probably do with some cheering up!

May coronavirus have fucked off by 2021 so that the artists who choose to return can finally each have the moment of glory they were denied this year!
