Within Temptation - Mother Earth

This is the title track of yet another one of my all-time favourite albums. It's just... ooooh yes. Ooh yes indeed.

Tommy february6 - ♥Lonely in Gorgeous♥

Kawase Tomoko is the lead singer of The Brilliant Green and also has two solo alter-egos, Tommy february6 and Tommy heavenly6. While I'm not a particular fan of heavenly6, I do rather love february6's 80s-inspired electronic bubblegum pop. From her 2002 self-titled album.

The Cure - Close to Me

This song always makes me want to dance. Always. Oh goodness I love it. From 1985's 'The Head On The Door'.

Nookicky - End of Regret

Nookicky are one of those bands that nobody seems to know about and so hardly any of their songs are up on YouTube. Blast. It's a shame, because I think their style was really creative and unusual and ought to be much more widely appreciated. But anyway, this is the Cloudy Pop Book version of 'End of Regret', which is actually one of my favourites of theirs.

Loreena McKennit - The Mystic's Dream

Ooh, this gives me goosebumps. I remember being introduced to it by the Last.fm tag radio and just finding it so beautiful. I later listened to the rest of 'The Mask and the Mirror', which I think is wonderful too.

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Joan of Arc (Maid of Orleans)

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (often abbreviated to OMD because 'manoeuvres' is such a pain to spell... probably) are a synthpop band that formed in 1978. Their best-known song is 'Enola Gay' (which is on a very good album, by the way), but this song is one of my favourites by OMD. From their 1981 album 'Architecture & Morality' (which is also very good).

The Prodigy - Spitfire (05 Version)

Mmm, dat beat. While I admit I haven't listened to much stuff by The Prodigy, I generally enjoy their singles, and this is my favourite of theirs so far. From 2004's 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned'.

The Tiger Lillies - Snip Snip

Ahh, the Tiger Lillies. XD Falsetto vocals + accordion + dark humour = much, much fun! This band was recommended to me by Last.fm, and as soon as I heard 'Bully Boys' from their musical version of 'Shockheaded Peter', I knew I was going to enjoy their rather unique sound. This song, 'Snip Snip', also comes from 'Shockheaded Peter', and it cracks me up.

Laurie Anderson - O Superman (For Massenet)

Laurie Anderson is an American performance artist and composer who made the #2 spot on the UK Singles Charts in 1981 with this experimental piece. I discovered this while I was out in Japan for the first time, so this will always remind me of winter in Tokyo. Ahh. From her debut album 'Big Science'.

Shiina Ringo - Shuukyou

This was the song that got me into Shiina Ringo's music, many moons ago. She may sing with a very, very high voice, but her music is varied and intriguing, and her lyrics are just as fascinating. From her 2003 album 'Karuki Zaamen Kuri no Hana'.

Still more to come!
