Final (14.05.11.)

11: Amaury Vassili - Sognu (France)
Ooh wow. Seems kind of out of place in the Eurovision, but great stuff!

12: Raphael Gualazzi - Madness of Love (Italy)
Pretty good, but I think I need another listen before I can really settle on an opinion.

14: Blue - I Can (United Kingdom)
A major, MAJOR improvement over last year's entirely forgettable entry. Not "ZOMG AMAZING!!1!11" but certainly a decent song. Also absolutely brilliant to see non-randomers representing us for a change! Whether we'll do this again next year, though, I don't know...

16: Lena - Taken by a Stranger (Germany)
Hmm. Might grow on me.

22: Lucía Pérez - Que me quiten lo bailao (Spain)
A happy little summer song! Catchy too, and very Spanish. I like it!

And Azerbaijan ended up winning. Meh. Quelle surprise. Italy did surprisingly well, though, gaining 2nd place! And we didn't do too badly either. Jedward did even better than us, LMFAO.

Well then. 'Til next year...

As written on my notes:

France: Les Miserables wannabe (but actually I quite liked it).

Italy: Inoffensive lounge jazz (which I also quite liked).

United Kingdom: Blokey with no sleeves - Ripped off with a Hulk flex?! (We're thinking they got there, he tried to get his jacket on and realised his biceps were way more massive than when he was fitted, so they had to cut the sleeves off before they went on stage).

Germany: Bjork with the arse of J-LO.

Spain: I have nothing to say :(

We were really surprised at Azerbijan winning as we thought that they were very so-so and didn't stand out at all!

My Twitter comment on Azerbaijan's entry as it was about to be performed in the final: "This next one sounds like your average chart fodder. Will probably do well, then. #eurovision"

And how right I was! I would've rather seen Pokeball Sweden, Italy or Greece win, but eh... this is the kind of (bland, boring) thing that sells bajillions and goes to Number 1 these days. *sigh*
