Semi-final 2 (16.05.13.)
(YouTube links will be updated as soon as footage from this Semi-Final is available.)
1: PeR - Here We Go (Latvia)
Ahahaha, this is cute. Somehow I feel like I've gone back to the 90s... which is not a bad thing.
2: Valentina Monetta - Crisalide (Vola) (San Marino)
Wow, is this really the same person that sang the Facebook song? Might need to listen to this a few times before I can really appreciate it, but it's good, and Italian is such a pretty language for songs.
3: Esma & Lozano - Pred Da Se Razdeni (F.Y.R. Macedonia)
Speaking of pretty languages... yes, I am quite fond of Slavic languages like Macedonian. This song is also quite delightfully unusual. I think I like it!
4: Farid Mammadov - Hold Me (Azerbaijan)
Aww. What a cutie, look at him. Not sure I'm too big on the song, but... aww.
5: Krista Siegfrids - Marry Me (Finland)
♪ Marry me, I'll be your queen bee! ... Oh oh! Oh oh! Oh DING DONG! ♪ Ahahahaha Finland I think I love you. Nice to see quirky, silly entries like this back in the Eurovision.
6: Gianluca - Tomorrow (Malta)
Oh god I am loving this Semi-Final so far. Ahaha. While I don't know if I'm too big on the song itself, it's adorable and uplifting.
7: Elitsa & Stoyan - Samo shampioni (Bulgaria)
Hey, it's these two again! Awesome! I really liked their last entry, 'Water', and this one is quite fun too. ... LOL @ the random wub wub wub though, that seems to be happening in quite a few entries this year.
8: Eyþór Ingi - Ég á líf (Iceland)
Getting treated to a bunch of different languages in this Semi-Final. N approves! I don't want to hear English all the time, Europe! Shame this song isn't really all that, though.
9: Koza Mostra & Agathon Iakovidis - Alcohol Is Free (Greece)
GREECE. GREECE, YES. MORE LIKE THIS IN FUTURE YEARS, PLEASE.
10: Moran Mazor - Rak bishvilo (Israel)
Good voice. Rubbish dress. I, uh... have little else to say about this one, really. Sorry.
11: Dorians - Lonely Planet (Armenia)
Like his voice, but... *snore*
12: ByeAlex - Kedvesem (Zoohacker Remix) (Hungary)
... Did he just say, "Minge mush mash" in the chorus? Anyway, I'm afraid I must echo what I wrote for the last song: *snore*
13: Margaret Berger - I Feed You My Love (Norway)
Is it just me, or does the title scream "yandere"? (I FEED YOU MY LOVE AAAAAHAHAHHAAHIUGFUIEKHK *feeds sedative concoction*) Um, but yeah. Sounded pretty cool at first, then the chorus came in a- "You put a knife against my back/And you dare me to face the attack" - wait, what?! Maybe I was right about the yandere bit, just coming from the other side. o_O ANYWAY. Doesn't do much for me.
14: Adrian Lulgjuraj & Bledar Sejko - Identitet (Albania)
Albania goes rock-tastic, in Albanian! The results are pretty interesting. Not really grabbing me on this first listen, though. Might have to listen a few more times before I decide whether I like it or not.
15: Nodi & Sophie - Waterfall (Georgia)
Okay, this is actually pretty nice for a ballad. I like the harmony in the chorus. This could grow on me.
16: Takasa (Heilsarmee) - You and Me (Switzerland)
It's cute, but... eh. *shrug* Just lacks oomph. Aw, look at the old guy, though. Aww.
17: Cezar - It's My Life (Romania)
Oh WOW, that costume. I dig it. ... OH MY GOD IS HE A COUNTERTENOR HOW FUCKING EPIC. It's his life indeed. ... LOL MORE RANDOM WUB WUB WUBS this is amusing me. But yeah. What is it with countertenors and sopranists etc. and fucking epic costumes? Srsly, this seems to be a trend or something. But anyway. The song. I think I mostly like it 'cause he's a countertenor, and he's all IT'S MAH LIIIIIFE and I'm just like YES, YES IT IS, POWER TO YOU
So! Faves of tonight? Hmm, Greece, Finland (LOL), maybe Georgia, maybe Macedonia, maybe (surprisingly enough) San Marino too.
